Whether you are planning a weekend trip or a month long getaway in your RV, you should have a checklist of things that need to be done before you leave. It is important to make sure that you get safely from one place to the other. As an owner of an RV here are some essential things that you need to include in your checklist before every trip.

CHECK AND ADJUST THE AIR PRESSURE IN ALL TIRES

Make sure to check pressure in your tires while they are cold. Under-inflation is one of the leading causes of tire blow outs while traveling. It is also important to do proper maintenance, inspection and replacement of tires every 2-3 years, due to long “off season” RV storage.

WALK THROUGH THE ENTIRE RV AND SECURE ALL LOOSE ITEMS

Make sure that no items are left around. Close all doors, drawers, roof vents and cabinets to prevent damage while traveling on the road.

CHECK ALL FLUID LEVELS

Check fluid levels for motorized RV. If you own a travel trailer, make sure to check your tow vehicle fluids. Also remember the generator, check the oil level regularly!

Do one last walk around and make sure you didn’t leave anything overlooked. In the excitement of planning your trip and hitting the open road, it’s easy to forget the small things!
